This weekend we are thrilled to welcome back our Adult Choir at the 10:30 a.m. Mass. They will be leading us in some of our favorite hymns, as well as singing for the offertory anthem a setting of "Rejoice, Ye Pure in Heart" by Tulsa native Michael Bedford. During communion a vocal trio will sing a beautiful setting of Psalm 42 ("As the deer longs for running streams, so longs my soul for you, O LORD!"). As we reflect on the Gospel and the beauty of God's creation, let us sing in thanks to one of the greatest gifts we have: music, and its amazing power to heal our souls and uplift our hearts.
We continue to work hard to prepare for the coming liturgical season, and I want to invite anyone who has an interest in contributing to the music ministry of the parish to contact me. Instrumentalists, singers, percussionists, and anyone with a love for music are welcome! Our various groups range from the Children's choir to Adult choir; handbells to the EDGE/LifeTeen group. So many opportunities mean there is a group for you, regardless of your musical background! Reading music is not a requirement, so join us for a season, or for the whole year, and you may find you keep coming back!
Please e-mail me at lmeyer@churchofsaintmary.com if you would like to learn more.
