Walter Stout, Music Director, Resigns

My dear parishioners:

A week or so ago, Walter Stout, who has served as the Director of Music, Organist and Choir Director here at St. Mary's for the past thirteen years, presented his letter of resignation. It was with sadness that I accepted it.

We will certainly miss Walter at St. Mary's, but I also admire him for the reason he is leaving. During the past several years his mother's health and especially her eyesight has been failing. He feels it is his responsibility to move to Illinois so he can be of more assistance to her. His last Sunday with us will be the Feast of Christ the King, November 21st. It is Walter’s request to not have a public event before his departure.

We are doing a number of things to search for his replacement, and at the same time continue to provide music for our liturgies. A search committee has been formed to find a new Director of Music. Karen Hiller has taken on some additional responsibilities, and we will hire an additional organist, on a temporary basis, if needed. Ms. Joanne Pearson, who is a member of our Bell Choir, and teaches music at Monte Cassino, will be the choir director until a new one is hired.

I want to thank all of those who are committed to helping with the music in the coming months, and ask that everyone join with me in wishing Walter well, and offering him the support of our prayers.

Sincerely in the Lord,

Msgr. Dorney
