RCIA visits Catholic Charities - Report

Last night, St. Mary's RCIA group visited Catholic Charities. They learned about the many ways that Catholic Charities assists the local community. They also organized socks and underwear in the warehouse. Visit their website to find information on how you can help with the mission of Catholic Charities.

The St. Mary's RCIA community is visiting Catholic Charities for a tour this Tuesday (11th) at 6:30 p.m. If you would like to have a better idea of the many services provided by Catholic Charities in our community, your welcome to join us for the tour. Day of Service

Saint Mary parishioners came together on Saturday, November 10 for a fantastic Day of Service. We served our parish and community with open hearts and the love of Christ.

A great, big "thank you" to Emily Kamp and Paul Seikel and their committee for planning and organizing such a wonderful morning! Everyone who participated said it was more than they ever expected and are looking forward to our next service day.

Day of Service Volunteers Needed!

Parish-Wide Day of Service is right around the corner! Thank you to all of you who signed up after Mass last weekend. We already have three projects that are full! Also, thank you to all who generously made a donation. We are excited to be able to serve our parish and community through our projects.

But...we still need YOU!

We still have a few projects that we could use more volunteers. The list below gives some specifics about each project. If you have not yet signed up, we would still love to have you!

Project: Blue Star Mothers

The Blue Star Mothers provide moral support to Oklahoma troops by shipping “Freedom Boxes” to those deployed to Iraq & Afghanistan. 

Blue Star Mothers Project #1--volunteers will clean and organize the organization’s warehouse.

• 10-15 middle & high school youth
•  5 VIRTUS trained adults

This is a perfect project for middle or high school students to attend independent of their families (or with a VIRTUS trained parent)! Transportation via trolley will be provided between the parish and work site. Day of Service coordinators will sign off on any volunteer hours for students.

Blue Star Mothers Project #2--Project volunteers will write letters and create religious materials for Oklahoma troops currently deployed.

All are welcome-grab a friend and come support our troops on Veterans Day Weekend!

Project: Church of Saint Mary Pastoral Care Ministry

The Pastoral Care ministry brings the love of the Church to the elderly or ill.

Project volunteers will create a Thanksgiving craft and care package at the Church and deliver the goodies to individuals in their home or nursing facility.

• 20-30 volunteers needed. Children welcome with an adult!

This is a perfect project for families with younger children or those who would like to serve without heavy labor, or feel called to answer Jesus' request that we care for the ill and welcome the stranger.

Project: Catholic Charities Coats for Kids & Thanksgiving Food Baskets

Catholic Charities provides warmth and nourishment to the poor of Tulsa. 

Project volunteers will help Catholic Charities organize and set up for these two large-scale assistance programs.

• 20-40 volunteers needed.

Details about the day...

Parish-Wide Day of Service will be held on Saturday, November 10. We will begin with 8am Mass at St. Mary's. After Mass we will divide into the assigned projects and work for about two and a half hours. Everyone will return to the parish for a very casual potluck lunch and reflection time. We will finish by 12:30. 

Parish-Wide Day of Service

On Saturday, November 10th join your parish family in a Day of Service.  The day begins with Mass at 8:00 a.m., followed by a morning of service projects, and ends with lunch and reflections at noon.

So, you ask yourself, "What can I do?" Well, there are many opportunities:

• help the organization Rebuilding Together Tulsa build low rise steps and install handrails on the porch of a homeowner
• help the Blue Star Mothers organize the organization's warehouse
• organize the parish annex garage where weekly donations are stored and distributed
•  . . .  and many more projects
• or you can help with a donation if you are unable to participate.

Childrens Clothing Needed

A family has come to our Outreach Office in need of school uniforms. Their child cannot attend school until they have the proper clothing. If you can help, please call Hilary at the Office Annex, 918-749-2561 X124, or drop the items by at the Annex.

This family needs size 10 uniform shirts and pants for their son. The shirt needs to be a white collared shirt and can be long sleeve or short sleeve, and the pants need to be navy or khaki.

In addition, for their other two children, any kind of girls clothes in a size four, or boys clothes in a size 5 would help the family out tremendously. They also do not have winter jackets.

Our Outreach Office would also take public school uniform donations in other sizes as well. If you have any questions please contact St. Mary's Office Annex, 918-749-2561.

Welcome BACK to the PACK

1^st-5^th Grade Boys, new or returning, we want you! You don’t have to be a St. Mary student to be a part of Cub Scouts Pack 173. Bring your parents for hot dogs, games, and a kickoff rally to sign up for a new year of adventure!
