As many of you know, the United
States Supreme Court is preparing to issue its ruling on the constitutionality
of the Affordable Care Act. While we in
the Church are rightly concerned for the welfare of all citizens and their
ability to receive adequate healthcare, we believe that the Health and Human
Services Mandate is unjust and unconstitutional in forcing all
employers—including Christian schools and hospitals—to provide in their
health-care plans medications and procedures (including abortion-inducing drugs)
that violate their religious or moral convictions. Therefore, a rally has been planned to
peacefully protest this infringement on our First Amendment right to freely
exercise our religion.
The Tulsa Stand Up for
Religious Freedom Rally has been organized by the Diocese of Tulsa. Guest
speakers will include Bishop Edward J. Slattery, Sr. Barbara Anne Gooding of
St. Francis Hospital Network, and Leah Farish, esq. from the Alliance Defense
Fund.
