The images and stories coming from the communities devastated by the tornadoes on May 19 and 20 have been heartbreaking, leaving us to pray for the victims and ask "how can I help?" Bishop Slattery has asked the parishes across the Diocese of Tulsa to offer a special second collection at this weekend's Masses. St. Mary will be participating in this second collection and parishioners may donate cash or checks made out to Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Tulsa. Catholic Charities in Tulsa has been working closely with Catholic Charities in Oklahoma City and all monies received in the second collection will be sent directly to Oklahoma City.

In his letter, Bishop Slattery said "It is also imperative that we send monetary donations to be used effectively and efficiently to assist those who have lost so much. In time, funds from outside Oklahoma will come in, but because of our relationship, we should offer our assistance first. There are immediate needs that cannot wait."

The Bishop concluded his letter with, "Please continue to pray for the victims of this disaster. Thank you for being Christ's merciful love to those who suffer."

We ask that you continue to pray for our neighbors who were affected by the tornado and hope you will prayerfully consider giving to the second collection this weekend.
